Dolomiti X is a series of small but VERY highly detailed sceneries of the Italian part of the Alps.

Most of our Real Earth X products cover an area of about 20 x 20 kilometers and feature extraordinary high-level mesh and textures, showing the mountains as they really are!

But there are also a number of smaller products, like Tre Cime Solo, focusing on a very particular object, area or landmark in the region, complementing the other parts of the series.

Tre Cime (or Drei Zinnen, i.e. Three Peaks) is the most famous of all landmarks in the Italian Dolomiti region. Before WW1 the border between Austria and Italy would cut right across their summits. Today they are in Italy, but the German-Italian language border is still running along the peaks !

This particular scenery product has been meticulously modeled in a new way by the Real Earth team. The mountains are NOT made up of customized mesh, but rather are a huge 3D model, wonderfully textured with real photographs, also made on-site.
By working this way you will see a true mountain, without the washed-out or drawn-out textures that a regular FSX 'mesh mountain' would show!

In addition to the peaks themselves, the immediate area around them is also detailed in high-res mesh,  photo texture, and custom autogen, clearly showing the roads up to the famous restaurant at the foot of the peaks. The various restaurants and other mountain huts of the area are also modeled in high detail, using real photographs

The valleys to the south and east are now also fully included, with the tol road leading up to the peaks, and the town of Auronzo to the east!
